As always I’m a few days behind with this news but I’m getting there! I’ve been busy alright?! After the leaked set photos a few weeks ago we have our first official look at the Royal Family from the ABC Inhumans TV show coming later this year, courtesy of Entertainment Weekly (they really do get all the cool stuff). Check out the official image below.

Inhumans

So who do we have here? Starting on the left, Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Anson Mount as Black Bolt, Serinda Swan as Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal, and Iwan Rheon as Maximus. We still have no official look at either Triton or Lockjaw however.

I’m going to confess right now, I have a very limited knowledge of the Inhumans Royal Family. I recognise most of the name and I know their main powers but my interaction with them has come from their involvement in certain big Marvel Universe events, like Civil War or Siege (I think they get involved in some way). The internet is mostly underwhelmed with this first look as most of the characters outfits appear very simplistic and something out of the CW Network wardrobe. My first thought was when is Black Bolt’s signature cowl?!

Inhumans-Comics

It’s very clear the image has tried to emulate this well known Inhumans shot from the comics but it perfectly displays the differences. Crystal looks more or less the same but the rest look quite different even if some of their recognisable features are there. Maximus just looks like Ramsay Bolton had a haircut and threw on a jacket!

We know that the show is going to feature a considerable about of CGI, they have a giant teleporting dog to put in the show somehow after all, Medusa’s hair will need a lot of artificial help to give an accurate representation of its abilities and, well, there should be some decent superpowers on display.

I’m neither impressed nor disappointed with this image. I’m going to wait and see what the show actually looks like in full swing but I don’t hold out much hope for its success. Who knows, I could be wrong.

While we wait for the show to arrive on our screens in the autumn, enjoy the brief teaser released.

After the Royal Family of Inhumans is splintered by a military coup, they barely escape to Hawaii where their surprising interactions with the lush world and humanity around them may prove to not only save them, but Earth itself.
