M Night Shyamalan has got some of his confidence back! Following on from the success of Split earlier this year, the director has finally confirmed an Unbreakable sequel titled ‘Glass‘ is in the works!

I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like Unbreakable. Even if you’re not a fan of Bruce Willis you have to acknowledge that the film is a very different take on the superhero genre. The reluctant hero David has survived events where everyone else has been killed, and discovers a man called Elijah Price aka Mr Glass has been looking for an unbreakable man. He has a bone wasting disease and decides there must be someone with the opposite, a man who can’t be hurt!

If you haven’t seen the film go see it now. I’ve given away some of the story but it’s been out for years now so I’m not sorry!

The end of Split confirmed that it was set in the same world as Unbreakable, making this new film the third in a trilogy! The big names are confirmed to return, Bruce Willis as David, Samuel L Jackson as Elijah and James McAvoy as a whole host of characters! Connected film universes are all the rage at the moment but I’m so happy we’re getting a different kind of superhero film.

The title Glass suggests Samuel L Jackson‘s character will be the big bad, or maybe the main protagonist. Will David and Mr Glass have to team up against McAvoy as it was suggested at the end of Split that David was going to go after him? If you think you have seen dark Superhero films, think again. This won’t be a happy, colourful flick where the heroes save the world. It will be dark and beyond gritty. I’m sure it won’t be clear who wins in the end either and at what cost?

All I’m feeling now is excitement. This is a sequel that has been long awaited. Bring on 18th January 2019.
