Well this came out of nowhere!

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Josh Brolin has been officially cast as Nathaniel Summers aka Cable in Deadpool 2. I don’t even remember seeing his name on the shortlist of potentials! Tough luck Michael Shannon and David Harbour.

My initial thought was ‘Isn’t he a bit busy at the moment?’ Just in case you weren’t aware Brolin is sitting in the big floating chair that belongs to the ‘Mad Titan’ Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. He now has two Marvel acting credits (unless he pulls out of this one, it is early days) and I think it’s brilliant!

Thanos

I have no idea what his interpretation of Thanos is going to be but we can draw some idea of how he will portray Cable from some of his previous works like No Country For Old Men and Sicario. He’s going to be a gruff, no nonsense and dangerous man, add to that a bionic arm and mutant powers Brolin is going to be epic. He also has experience in the comedic action genre having starred opposite Will Smith in Men in Black 3, playing a young Tommy Lee Jones. He will be a brilliant straight man against Ryan Reynolds ridiculous Deadpool.

Cable

Brolin has reportedly been signed on for 4 films, could this mean he will appear in future X-Men films and not just Deadpool movies? Even though I loved Deadpool, I can’t see him having four solo movies. Surely this pretty much guarantees an X-Force appearance too!

My excitement for this film is steadily growing with each new snippet of information and I’m sure as we creep towards a June production start we will get even more news and maybe even a sneak peek at something cool!
