Well here we are, our first look at the long awaited Blade Runner sequel/reboot/remake?  The teaser below was released a couple of weeks ago but let’s check it out!

So what do we think? Well first of all it looks beautiful. Denis Villeneuve has created an aesthetic that whilst new and fresh, still feels every bit part of the original Ridley Scott film. Even with its many edits/cuts/remasters, Blade Runner is an incredible film, it is timeless and one of the very few films in existence that actually improves on the source material, Phillip K Dick’s book Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?

IMDB gives us a brief summary of the plot “Thirty years after the events of the first film, a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling), unearths a long-buried secret that has the potential to plunge what’s left of society into chaos. K’s discovery leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former LAPD blade runner who has been missing for 30 years.

What is the secret that K uncovers? What has Deckard been doing for the last 30 years? Are the Replicants hiding? Looks like Dekard wasn’t a Replicant after all, unless they can age like humans. I’ll be honest, it’s been a very long time since I saw the original film so the intricate details escape me but the teaser suggests another ‘passing the torch’ film with Ford handing things over to Gosling.

Have the costume department had budget cuts? Deckard is just wearing a simple grey T-Shirt. Is this Deckard or just a Harrison Ford Replicant?! New fan theory started! #FordIsaReplicant

Is this another film we don’t need? Has Hollywood run out of original ideas so they revert to trying to drain the last ounces of success out of cult films? In this instance I just hope they are able to create an engaging and entertaining film and not destroy the legacy of the first.

What do you think of the teaser? Looking forward to the film? Let us know in the comments below.
