I’m a few weeks late with this news but just before the Christmas break we learnt that DC favourite femme fatales will be getting their own movie!

Coming off the luke-warm success of Suicide Squad, we will be getting another DCEU film featuring, presumably, Poison Ivy, Catwoman and of course Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

Robbie is sent to produce the picture and Suicide Squad’s David Ayer will direct which is understandable as he was the one to bring Harley to the big screen for the first time. There are no other details that that really so everything else is pure speculation.

If Poison Ivy and Catwoman are featured, who will fill the roles? Could we see the return of Anne Hathaway as Selena Kyle, slipping into the catsuit last seen in the Nolan trilogy? And what about Ivy? Not seen since the abysmal Batman and Robin, when Uma Thurman wrapped herself in vines, who take on the sultry doctor-turned-psychopath? Rumours are already abound including Megan Fox or Emma Stone to star.

Could Gotham City Sirens mark the beginning of smaller team up films for the DCEU? With two major team ups already under the belt and another coming at the end of the year, could we be seeing the one thing Marvel hasn’t done, buddy films? Small groups of people with small stories instead of huge world changing events to tackle. This could be a way around the stand alone comic book movie problem of ‘Why don’t all the heroes turn up to help?’

I don’t really know what to think about this one. Until the DCEU is in better shape I’m going to be worried as I assume the tone of the film is going to be very similar to Suicide Squad. I only hope DC/Warner Bros/David Ayer learn from their mistakes.

What do you think of the upcoming film? Looking forward to it? Anxious? Let us know in the comments below.
