Everyone had been wondering when we were going to be getting our first proper look at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2! And now we have our answer…..it was yesterday!
Quite a few story and character details have been released already with various concept art giving us tiny glimpses into the film but now, after the first official poster being released (see below) we have a ‘sneak peek’, our first official footage from the film.
Let’s check it out!
Well…..if that hasn’t got you excited for the film then nothing will! There’s not real context for what we have seen and it has of course created more questions than answers so let’s go through some of the main bits!
Straight away we get an indication that the film is still going to have a lot of the same themes as the first. This shot is more than likely inside the Milano and of course, if you had a spacesuit wouldn’t you have some fun?
Star Lord looks out at something….., I know, descriptive right! It looks huge and I’m going to go out on a limb and say that he is either on or inside Ego the Living planet at this point and getting ready for a fight!
He’s not the only one ready for a tussle! Gamora firmly stood on a platform, readying her sword for battle, quickly followed by her running toward something that has huge tentacles? Perhaps the creature seen in previous concept art!
The biggest question here is why are Yondu and Rockett together? The last time we saw the blue skinned Ravager he was pretty pissed and Quill and Co so why do they now appear to be working together? And what’s with all the floating people? Has Rockett turned the gravity off again? If so how are they able to walk on the bridge fine? very confusing!
Another blue alien comes back to join the fun! Nebula is back, and appears to have had some upgrades since the first film. Was she trying to hide herself and been caught? Does the red clothing in the foreground suggest the Ravagers have caught her? We know she will be joining the team as well at some point, for some reason, is it a case of all hands to battle stations?!
Your guess is as good as mine! I have no idea what is going on here! Some kind of energy explosion hurling a bunch of mercenaries, maybe Ravagers into the air. Could this be just before the shot of Yondu and Rockett? It would explain all the people falling out of the sky!
Something has gone very wrong for our heroes. It looks like Star Lord has crashed the Milano onto some planet, maybe Ego again? Forcing himself, Gamora and Drax to make their way on foot. Why has the team split up? Where are Rockett and Groot? What caused them to crash?
There’s a lot of battle prepping in this teaser! We get a good look at Star Lord’s new threads. With some kind of battle armour chest piece and a more streamlined jacket. Spinning his guns around ready to launch out of the tunnel into battle perhaps?
Again the humour comes into play! It appears that StarLord and Gamora’s ‘romance’ may be blossoming but also hitting obstacles. Drax offers advice to Quill and then consoles him with an unwelcome hug! Gotta love Drax!
And the last shot and the internet’s favourite part of the trailer! Rockett and Groot back together! Look at little baby Groot! Awwwww!! He’s even wearing what looks like his own mini Ravager jacket!!! What has Rockett just shot at? Is Groot the same as before only smaller? Does he still have all his old memories? It’s safe to say he’s cute and I want to see more! I doubt he’s going to be the team’s muscle on this mission but maybe he’ll have some other use!
If you didn’t like this tease then you are dead inside. Yes, it doesn’t give us much to go on and we all have a lot of questions, but it’s great to see some of our favourite Marvel heroes on screen again.
Guardians was one of the most popular and well received MCU films and I don’t know a single person who doesn’t like it so I cannot wait to see more.
Slated for a 05/05/2017 release, we have just over 6 months to wait and I’m sure the first full length trailer will come in a few weeks.
In the meantime, we can be satisfied that the film appears to be keeping the themes of it’s predecessor, humour, action and of course Groot…always Groot!
Let us know what you think of the teaser in the comments below and let your good feelings intensify!!!
