The title of this post may be misleading. We all know that due to the success of Jon Bernthal’s performance as Frank Castle in Marvel/Netflix Daredevil Season 2, The Punisher will be getting his own series.

Punisher1

Since the announcement was made there has been no indication as to when the show would arrive as the Marvel/Netflix slate is pretty full, what with Luke Cage coming out in little over a month, Iron Fist early next year and the Defenders presumably towards the end of 2017.

It may come as a surprise then to see that The Punisher already has it’s landing pattern on the Netflix mobile app. This means that if you search for it, you will be presented by the following image and description:

Traditionally the landing pattern doesn’t appear until within a year before a show is due to be released so does this mean we will get the show some time in 2017?! Do Marvel and Netlfix want to give him his own show before adding him to the Defenders roster?

It’s pretty exciting that this could be happening so soon, but it is strange that no other announcement has been made or even a reference to the release date. I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t see the show for a while, this is just Netflix getting ready for it!

  1. Of course I would like to see a Punisher Netflix series. Bernthal was amazing as the character and I would like to see more of him. I just hope that the writers and director(s) make sure to carefully craft the show and not just give us some rushed and shitty thing that we’ll dislike.
