It was only a matter of time but we now have confirmation that a sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel has been put into ‘active development’

MOS

The Wrap reports that Warner Bros. are making Superman  a top priority and they want to make sure they get the character right.

It will be a long time before we see this film seeing as the DC slate is pretty full for the next few years. There are still two untitled DC films on the slate set for release on October 5, 2018 and November 1, 2019, so could Man of Steel 2 fill one of these slots?

It makes sense that Supes would get another stand alone flick, especially considering all the other characters that form the Justice League are getting their own films, with Wonder Woman the next to hit our screens.

Having dealt with his origin in Man of Steel the sequel should be able to deal with some true Superman stories, bring in some traditional villains, locations and stories to give us the Superman we want. Prevent Zack Snyder from directing and we might get a decent Superman film, and not just a brooding Henry Cavill.

So what do you think the plot should be? My money is on some version of the classic Braniac/Bottles City of Kandor story. Braniac would be awesome to see properly on the big screen and would be a formidable enemy for the man in blue.

Maybe Metallo, or Bizarro or maybe a decent Lex Luthor (in power suit) could be the danger!

Let’s face it, after the Justice League films, it’s going to be difficult to raise the threat level from that of Steppenwolf and Darkseid so bringing in the added aspect of Kryptonian survivors being held hostage will raise the stakes! After all, apart from Kryptonite, protecting innocents is Superman’s greatest weakness.

What do you guys think? Please about the sequel news? Dreading it? Should Superman be re-cast? What character should appear? Let us know in the comments below.
