As the title of the this post suggest there are more comic book projects in development! And I’m not talking about movies!

We had confirmation that two different Mutant related shows were in development. One called Legion, which would follow  David Haller aka Legion, a man plagued with multiple personalities each one with its own power. In the comics Legion is Charles Xavier’s son so it will be interesting to see how closely they tie this series in with the movies, if at all.

The second show was called simply Hellfire. This show was going to focus on the infamous Hellfire Club, a group of the most famous, wealthy and influential members of society, who also happen to have powerful mutant abilities. It counts among it’s most notable members Sebastian Shaw, Emma Frost and at one time Jean Grey.

You’ll notice that I said the show WAS a few times in that last section, this is because the show is no longer going forward. For what reason I don’t know but it would have been awesome to see a super powered mutant mafia on screen!

Variety reports that the people at Marvel and Fox have committed to the pilot of a new adventure/action Mutant TV show written by Matt Nix (Burn Notice).

If that’s too vague for you, here’s the pitch:

The untitled series will focus on two ordinary parents who discover their children possess mutant powers. Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

There’s still no confirmation if this is going to like up with the wider X-men movie universe or what time period it’s going to be set. But it does suggest a future setting as there is a ‘hostile government’. Could the underground network of mutants be the Morlocks? Famous for being underground most of the time?

I have a feeling that this show will be Fox’s version of Agents of SHIELD. It will be linked to the X-men films but feature it’s own set of characters with occasional main stream appearances.

Don’t expect Wolverine or Magneto to show up but some lesser known mutants who might not have been seen on screen before might show up. Of course I might be completely wrong and they will be all original characters.

As a comic book fan I’m always going to want to see more adaptations on screen and the X-men franchise needs some stability. There are some terrible X-men films and then there are some average ones. The last really good film was, in my opinion, X2 which was release 13 years ago!!!

I’m looking forward to seeing how Marvel and Fox work together on a new project and a new take on mutants!
