We have seen and heard quite a lot about the soon to be release Suicide Squad film. IT is surprising that we still know very little about the story of said film.

We know the bare bones of the plot, A secret government agency run by Amanda Waller, named A.R.G.U.S creates a task force comprising super villains, the “Suicide Squad“. They are assigned to execute dangerous tasks in exchange for shorter prison sentences.

Quite a vague story but we know it is going to be crammed full of comic book goodness! The Squad itself is made up of some awesome characters, many of which are well known in from the comics, with others like Diablo and Slipknot lesser known.

With the lack of definitive story details and no real confirmation about how all the things we have seen fit together, especially how the Joker is involved, every little detail is being scrutinized to the highest level.

Scott Eastwood has been the most recent subject of this focus. Rumours have been flying around for a while that his character is someone important to the comics. We still have no confirmation on who he is playing other than he is attached to the same military unit that Rick Flag is part of, and will be working alongside the Squad.

The waters were further muddied by Producer Richard Shuckle as Comicbookmoive.com reports “He’s a very important part of the film and works directly alongside Colonel Flag in the mission.  That’s kind of really the best way to describe it. David [Ayer] and Scott worked [together] before. Scott was in Fury.   He was sort of a last minute piece of casting by a bunch of different actors for these roles. His character was sort of existing, then it wasn’t going to exist in the movie, and David wanted to bring him back. It kind of went through a back and forth and Scott just kind of naturally found a place and he had had a pre-existing working relationship [with Ayer].”

So who is Eastwood playing? Many think he could be Dick Grayson, inspired by the recent Agent Grayson stories. Personally I don’t think he will be Agent Grayson as it would be difficult to explain that in the DCEU without having explained his origins.

Could he then be Nightwing It’s more likely he is Dick Grayson undercover but still acting as Nightwing at night. Maybe sent on a mission by Batman to see what Amanda Waller is up to.

Roy Harper? Jason Todd? Who knows?

Some suggest that he is actually a young Slade Wilson aka Deathstroke. If Eastwood is playing anyone from the comic books I think this is the most likely character. Wilson has a military background and has come up against his fair share of Batman’s villains as well as being one himself.

I am still unsure when this film is supposed to be set. There will be flashbacks showing some of the Squads interactions with Batman, and some origin but will the film be set around the same time as BvS or Man of Steel? Or is it before all of that or after? A young Slade could easily fit int the new DC EU.

One of the more recent and I would say less tangible theories is that he is a version of Oliver Queen. This is based on the ID on his uniform “Lt G.Q.” Could this stand for Green Queen? I really don’t think this will be the case. I know all the DC films are leading towards the Justice League film in a couple of years but there has been no indication that the Green Arrow will appear.

It doesn’t mean it won’t happen but I feel adding another well known hero in to the mix other than those we know are already coming will crowd the universe this early. Plus it would be a dramatic change in the character’s origin.

So who do you think Scott Eastwood is playing? Someone from the comics or just another military guy? Are we looking into this too much? Let us know in the comments below.
